LEAF Experiences & Trips
The LEAF leadership team has had years of international experience in designing and leading camps, events, and activities for students. Since establishing LEAF CE we have been focused on a few specific destinations.
Tai Lake
Suzhou, Jiangsu, China
There are adventures to be had and things to learn, even in your backyard. During the Covid years, we were limited with how far we could travel. This encouraged the Leaf team to look for travel experiences locally. Lake Tai is one of the largest fresh water lakes in the country and has a long and rich heritage of Biluochun tea, local fruit, and lake based cuisine. Students learn local culture. They explore villages and nature while improving their knowledge and skills of leadership, critical thinking, photography, and economics.
Xishuangbanna
Jinghong, Yunnan, China
Famed for its elephants and amazing weather, Xishuangbanna is also home to one of the most culturally diverse regions in China. Many of the minority groups in China have villages and communities in the area. Students were able to encourage local minority group students, while also carrying out a basic anthropological research project to better understand the unique situation of the region.
Mathari Valley & Joska
Nairobi, Kenya
Students partner with a local Kenyan school network, MOHI. MOHI focuses on helping children in slum communities make a better future through education. Our students walk the streets, hear the stories, and share cultural classroom interactions where Chinese culture is shared and Kenyan culture is learned.
